That got me to thinking…
Suppose trees were sentient. Maybe they would really hate other trees. I mean, imagine having to live next to the same asshole year after year, having him steal your sunlight, dropping leaves on your side of the forest, and getting his pollen all over you. You would probably cheer when someone chopped him down. And it must get boring being a tree. No change of scenery, you never get to go anywhere, no sensory organs… Maybe trees are fine with dying and getting to be reincarnated as something more interesting. |
