Last night we had 11 kids between 5-10.... 6 of which were kids from the block.

Nice NW Omaha area.

Last year we had lost count and the year before was in the 100's!

Is trick or treating dead?

What the fuck am I to do with 300 extra dum-dums

I saw thousands of trick-or-treaters last night in San Diego.  South Park neighborhood.

My doorbell rang three times last night.      I was all dressed up, too. Got drunk and lamented the Halloweens of my youth. Kids everywhere, the sun down and porch lights on. The laughter and excitement was magnetic magic.

They were all in the Florence area of Omaha.  There were tons of kids in my neck of the woods.

Have not had a trick or treater in 23 years since I moved up the hill.

They marked your house as one that gives shit candy.

I guess it depends on where you live.  I use to have lots of trick or treaters, but after moving more towards a rural area, not a single knock.

Bwaaaaaaaa haaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaa

Thanks man!

Tree blew over and took out pole and blew up the transformer to my house at 4am this morning.

First good laugh I've had since then.

3 groups stopped by last night where I was. I remember being a kid 15 years ago and the area of town I lived in was packed. It's been on the decline. Even my parents say they hardly get anyone stopping by.

I was like Lights on, decorations out and me and my BIG bowl of suckers was on the porch

Had the camera out for the great costumes we normally see, so the lady could see the good/cute ones (she works till 9pm).

I had a group of 4 come and 3 were Spider Man and the 4th a princess. The rest were neighbors

The wife and I didnt get any trick or treaters, the porch lights were on and jack-o-lanterns lit, and there are a number of kids in the neighborhood.

I'm in S/W Omaha and our neighborhood turnout was less than normal.  Which is strange because it was a beautiful night last night.

i have had 1 kid in 25yrs.  The next door neighbor kid when he was 6yrs. old.  He's 20 now.  I love dum dums.  I keep them for myself.

I don't think I would sit on the porch with a camera in hand and a bowl full of candy waiting for kids to show up.

I was dressed up and out talking with the other neighbors doing the same! We simply had no one come up our block!

Sounds like you went to plan B. Go to the neighbors house and say trick-or-beer. That's how you salvage a slow Halloween.

Sounds like the same thing we had here. Just moved into our house a few months ago and this was our first Halloween so we didn't know what to expect. We got 3 bags of mixed candy and had maybe 15 kids . It seems like everybody just goes to the mall or churches now. I feel like the old school trick or treating is dead. At our end of the street everybody was giving out candy but the next block up nobody was doing anything. Now we are stuck with a year supply of Butterfingers, Hershey Bars, KitKats, PayDays, and everything else

I have decided to not give out candy. The liability has crossed the line. I won't take the risk. I prefer the neighborhood to have one centralized party for the kids.

Maybe after the last couple years more people are taking the same position.

I haven't had a single trick or treater in three years.  This was my last year buying candy as I just have to dump it on the office folk the next day.  We live in a pretty safe and populated neighborhood but ever church around here does the whole trunk or treat thing now and the parents just drive their kids to the parking lots, load them up and go on the the next church.  Trick or treating used to be huge here when I was a kid.  Pretty bummed out that they don't do it anymore.

It was almost dead in my hood as well, years prior we have hundreds of kids, this year maybe 100.

We had fairly normal turn-out here even with the bad weather.  That being said, very few folks were in costumes and mostly the ones that were half-assed it.  Of course, several families with small children moved into the neighborhood since last year.  Without them, the count would have been way down.  Also, my next-door neighbor who is either a saint or a weirdo, works with a youth group and brought in a short bus load as well.

Our neighborhood was pretty slow last night, and it used to be pretty packed. I'm guessing some of the trunk-or-treat's are taking away all of the "business."

Poring rain and high winds kept most of the kids inside around here.

My son only went about 4 blocks before giving up.

Last year I think we covered 15 blocks and he stayed out the entire 2 hours.

It was pouring rain here in Saint Louis last night (as it is oft wont to do on Halloween) so we had the usual 5 or 6 groups of neighborhood kids and outlying kids between 6 and 7pm.

7:15pm lights go out... because after that is when the teens and "kids not from around here" show up with no costumes.

Edit: I did hear a knock on our darkened door around 7:45pm though.

I don't even put that shit out anymore. It used to be the kids in your local area would be the only ones to come by. But, when we started seeing 10+ kids in the back of pick-up beds being trucked in by the 100's, we agreed NO MAS.
