If the source of this isn't pride in being a victim, it's at least making it too much of one's identity.
Edit: There are traumas that will stick with someone for a lifetime and I don't want to minimize the suffering of people who have to live like that, but we've somehow gone from taking pride in living as if it never happened to taking pride in showing how much it has affected you. |

Be aware of racism, classism, sexism, heterosexism, cissexism, ableism, and other issues of privilege and oppression I learned a new 'ism today. Apparently I'm cissexist! (the belief that transsexuals' identified genders are inferior to, or less authentic than, those of cissexuals)
