I have not formed a trust yet- waiting until I have money for a suppressor. The current political climate has made me think about doing it now. My question is- would a trust protect my weapons if a ban, maybe with confiscation, comes about? If I transferred all of my weapons to the trust, even if the dreaded ban includes bans on future transfers, as long as my kids are officers the weapons would not have to be turned in at my death- correct? If a trust did protect the weapons like that can I add officers at any time? Would the ban the dems want affect weapons held by a trust? |

In a revocable living trust, you can and take away trustees at any time, IIRC. |

I have Gun Trust Lawyer working on a trust for me now. They said a revocable trust would not protect transfers most likely, even within the trust, depending on how the transfer ban was written. I don't know the why's though. Oddly, they said their $2500 trust would protect perpetually even in the event of a transfer ban.
Again, not an attorney and I don't understand why the two trusts are different. |
