When it rains it pours.

Had to put my 8 year old Anatolian Shepherd to sleep two weeks ago due to liver failure (big dog, vet said it wasn't uncommon).

Last night, our 14 year old cat finally succumbed to kidney failure. He had been diagnosed 27 months ago, and we did dialysis every other day - medication, and prescription food. He was hapy and enjoying life up until this past weekend.
We were going to put him to sleep today, but he died late yesterday afternoon.

Losing longtime friends like that sucks. Feels like losing a family member.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I'm not looking forward to my Blue Heeler getting old.  She's a great dog and I'm going to miss her dearly when she goes.

Sorry to hear that.  The hardest thing is to take your pet in to the vet that last time...

I (our neighborhood) lost 3 of our elderly people in the last 5 months.  That will usually mean the kids take all they can and auction the rest to the vultures, then sell the house to white trash for some quick cash.  That's what's happened the last time our neighbors have passed.  Growing up on the street and seeing it change is sad.

It hurts when you lose one, and you've had a double whammy. Your animal friends were lucky to have someone who was able to care for them, and make the hard decisions for them.

Best thing is, get another "furry child" to fill the hole in your life.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear about that.  My sincere condolances on your loss.  They truly are like furry children, at least to some of us.

Betetr than that, adopt new "furry children" from a shelter or rescue... save them from a bad life, and help make room for more abused/neglected/abandoned animals.

Sorry for your loss

Rest assured though that they are in a happy place and will always be with you in memory. Last year during Christmas time we had to put down our 8yr old Golden due to cancer so I can understand your pain.

that's unfortunate. I've been through that recently myself. Hoping the best for yall in this time of emptiness.
There's still always a lot of dogs in cats in desperate need of a loving home or else at the humane societies and animal shelters.
God bless..

1 a week is bad enough, 2 would devastate me.  Sorry for your loss man.  If I think about the cat I had to put down 4 years ago due to vaccine associated fibrosarcoma, I cry

Rescued a new 4-year old cat last night from the local Animal Shelter. She had been there almost six-weeks, and didn't have long to go before being euthanized.

Still searching for a name for her.

dangit, not that poem again......every time *sniff* I read it, I get some crap in my eye

My cat black passed away almost 2 years ago.  Still hurts.  I moved out not long after that leaving his littermate brother and his stepsister with my folks.

Definitely get some new additions to the family.  Definitely not replacing, just growing the ranks of your family.

And defintiely go the shelter routine.  Our Maine Coon, Mitsi, was a rescue.  She tangled with a garage door and was apparently stuck for 3 days before neighbors rescued her.  Took the vet the better part of a year to put her back together.  She was soooo scraggly looking from the lack of fur from the surgeries.  Noone would adopt her.  Fortunately we did.  She is such a sweetie too.  Everytime I visit, she takes a flying leap onto my shoulder.

Sorry for the loss.  Someone beat me to the rainbowbridge link.  Good on you mate for the rescue.  She is beautiful cat my two little girls agree(cats). I am a proud cat dad of a former shelter cat and one that the fiance and I took right off the street in front of our old apartment.  Both are sooooo spoiled.  Now tht we bought a house it is a non stop play and running fest.  The lower level is a race track.  Sorry and congrats at the same time.
