My youngest is now a freshly minted Second Lieutenant in the USAF.

I know how hard this whole process is as my son leaves for West Point USMAPS this July 17th for his quest!

The academy application process is a long and arduous task but well worth it for the right individual as you well know. I've watched my son work on this goal for over three years now, and he's really grown.  It was a great ride for me also as I was able to get back involved in my past military activities (USMC, only one enlistment back in the early '80's) and be involved in our community with things like Habitat for Humanity volunteering.

Now that he's graduated High School last week, my wife and I are coming to the realization that in less than two months, he's gone for at least 5 years!  I'm sure you know this feeling well! lol

Here he is up at West Point on an overnight visit just before he accepted his Appointment last April.
