Aviation Week reported today (9/10) that the program has been put on indefinite hold and that the next White House Administration would preside over the RFP and contract award. The article stated that the delay would allow Boeing to put together a proposal based on the 777. Tanker |
... a fair trade-off in my book |
Copy that. Was on a scarebus A320 two days ago with out A/C for the whole flight after a 40 minute wait on the tarmac at ORD. I just love the smell of ass rotting. Odd- the old DC-9 that brought me there worked flawlessly. I could go on and on. YMMV, but the mechanics I know who make those things work prefer Boeing- and they got their start in the US marines or Air Force. I trust their opinion and their first-hand accounts of chicanery on those scarebus aircraft. |
... Emotion and politics should not play a role in contract award - I'm a huge proponent of military hardware acquisition reform. In fact, I recently presented a well-received paper on the savings and benefits it brings to all stakeholders Customers, end-users and an independent taxpayer (technical/business) oversight committee should make the decision - not just the USAF alone |
Oh great, an aircraft designed by disparate committees.

... Hmmm, so you don't support the notion of having: ... maybe you should stick to "what it is you do" and leave military acquisitions to those that know |
Politicians getting involved in the design requirements/performance parameters of an aircraft is doomed to failure. F-111B anyone? |
