I sent a package priority on Monday at noon. The calculator I used online indicated the package would arrive in two days. The destination is only a few hundred miles from here (<300). I figured it would easily arrive in two days. Well, on Thurdsay, the intended recipient indicated the package had not arrived. So, there is always today, right? From now on, everything goes UPS, where I can get a tracking number!!!!! UHHHHH. (/rant) |

if you read the fine print, Priority is NOT guaranteed to be delivered w/in 3 days. They TRY to do so. Like the other poster said. get delivery confirmation if its important to you. if the calculator said it would go via the space shuttle, would you belive the on line calculator? check UPSs site for tracking. you will find that you will have to check the "I agree" box. read what youre agreeing too. dont be so gullable. |
| As they said delivery comp. The USPS has better tracking than ups or fedx. I always send stuff that way. I have ordered from lower 48 priority and had my order within a 4-5 days if it was not a holiday. Always use USPS a lot cheaper and they can track if anything goes missing if you do the right things in the first place. Ups and fedx do not deliver to my area they contract out and i have had trouble with the deliverys. |
I have never had any thing shipped USPS that the tracking worked on.It would show the package/letter received and then thats it!I would get an email from the recipient that they received it while USPS still showed nothing. Seeing as I'm on a a roll now,my mail lady won't deliver packages that weigh more than 5 lbs.I have to go down to the PO,stand in line for 45 minutes, get insulted by the employees to get my package that I paid to have delivered to my house. Oh boy,I feel better now! |
| Forget the USPS. And all delivery confirmation does it let you know where the package last was before they lost it. I had one package marked as delievered (gemtech suppressor) but the recepiant never got it. On another package, the delivery confirmation says it was delivered...about 2000 miles away from where it was supposed to go. Oh, and they don't give a shit. It's amazing that we have to pay them to do their job (regular mail) and then pay them extra to do their job right (delivery confirmation, registered, etc) and if they screw up, oh well there's nothing we can do for you. |
| I paid for delivery confirmation. I entered the number and the response was, "Item not recognized," or some such boloney. It is probably the holiday. I sent it Tuesday, so I would expect it to get there by now. IT IS 214 MILES AWAY, NOT 3,000 MILES. Anyway, it will probably arrive on Monday or Tuesday, or maybe not at all. I'll check with the post office on Monday. Until then, I get to worry about whether some expensive stuff is lost. |
That's not good. That implies they never put it into the systems computer. I've never gotten that responce from any delivery confirmation number. I'd be very worried at this point. |
Sucks that it didn't work out like you wanted. But like others said, while they don't technically have a "tracking" number, you can get delivery confirmation. I've rarely had bad experiences with the Postal Service. I love their Priority Mail for the boxes. Plus, where I live, UPS & FedEx are really far away.
So did you send it Monday, or Tuesday? And did you not get insurance on it? |
USPS tracking and delivery confirmation DO NOT WORK. It is a waste of money. I say again, they DO NOT WORK. I ship multiple packages almost daily, most by Fed Ex, but sometime USPS Priority. Even when you think you have delivery by USPS, or tracking info, it is either way too late, or they have lied. I have many times had customers claim pkgs were not delivered, even though USPS tracking and Delivery Confirmation said they have been. Nope. Some Post Office employee on crack lied. Fed Ex, on the other hand, has the best tracking in the shipping business. |
Like I said, USPS is cheaper and more convenient for me, as the post office is right down the street and I live in a rural area. I've never had any problems. |

I own a shipping and copy store franchise and deal with the USPS on a daily basis. My opinion is that if want your package to arrive on time and be able to verify it was delivered DO NOT USE THE US POSTAL SERVICE! I ship between 800 and 1000 parcels a month for my customers. 90% of all delivery issues are with the USPS. Delivery comfimations are a joke. 50% are never scanned inbound or outbound. Of the remainder only 25% are scanned on the outbound side and about 15% on the delivery side. One of the reasons is that some postmasters want their letter carriers to scan the delivery confimations when the are picked up but not all letter carriers have the scanning equipment available. If you mail at the Post Office most of the time the clerk will scan the DC. I say most of the time because I have had to remind the clerk on numerous occasions to scan the confirmation number. On the delivery side, a large percentage of the carriers again do not have the scanning equipment available so they do not scan to confirm that the package has been delivered. Some letter carriers are lazy and dont scan, some scan prior to delivering the package. I had a very expensive pair of ladies shoes sent to one of my private mailbox customers. She came in saying that the package had been delivered and wanted her shoes. I said what? I didn't receive a package for you today. I took her delivery confirmation number and entered it into the USPS Track & Confirm website. It said the package had been deliverd to my store at 8:38am that day. My store doesn't even unitl open until 9:00am! I called my area's postmaster and basically asked him WTF? His reply was "Oh you must have the alternate carrier today, your regular carrier has the day off." Me again WTF? Postmaster "Well we dont have enough hand held scanners for the alternate drivers so we scanned the packages at the Post Office today. Sorry we'll try to do better next time." Again if you want it deliverd use UPS, FedEX, DHL or ABTPO (Anybody But The Post Office). |
