But can the ship stop 100 cruise missiles, 1000?

I'm sure the Chinese would like to know.90

The Chinese are already there.

Their naval base in Djibouti is only 10 miles from ours.  I'm pretty sure we're constantly monitoring them and vice versa.

here's your 'typical' site... and they are using basspro type radars for targeting. this is one of the big issues with the hooties. targets are small, cheap and highly mobile. there 'command' is very de-centralized. its not like fighting a first world power.

There SHOULD have been damage and/or casualties at the site that launched the ASCM.

Yup.  The kind of stuff you can make off of a YouTube video with some enhancements from some other nations.  COTs radars and targeting systems.  Wonder who learned to code?

Is the Houthies conflict our Ukraine / Russia proxy with Chiina?

If a missile got close enough to have a Phalanx engage it, then why isn't all hell breaking loose?

I hope there’s something I’m missing, because this is an essential navy function in 2024, the feat itself shouldn’t be newsworthy.

Had to go watch some video, man that CWIS is impressive, Richard Gatling would proud!

Imagine you're a pirate and the last thing you see before you get yeeted from a mile away is this:

Fuckin a, go Navy!

If this really happened, you can bet there are going to be some hard questions being asked. Keep in mind CWIS can be SeaRAM too, if the ship had it.

ETA looks like no SeaRAM on this ship.

Definitely not, but the ships aren't using CWIS as a first resort.  This happened because something failed.

Oh, completely agreed.     I had just read the article where the other missile was confused for a friendly (that killed 3 service members), so it was an assumption that the same thing happened with the Gravely.
