Any of you guys know a source for the issued sleeping bag system? I'm trying to find a couple for camping but not really having any luck. Any other surplus systems out there that are worth the price? The current issue system plus a woobie is amazing for cold season hunting trips. |

Bought mine off Ebay. There are the new ones in multicam I think or the little older ones in woodland. Mine were surplus old ones in "used" condition. Honestly, out of the 4 I bought I think only one looked like it had ever been used. I emailed the seller and asked if they would cut a deal on 4. IIRC I paid $71 each, shipped. |

I picked two of these up, they're in great shape. |

Quoted: I got two of them brand new, still in wrappers, off e-Bay. One was $50 shipped. The other was around $80. Not bad for a complete sleeping system rated to negative four billion degrees. For the price they are an amazing deal. I froze my ass off one night on the side of an Idaho mountain. Never, ever again. |

I have a North Face but its developed cold spots and was never that warm to begin with. The one I was issued at CIF was amazing. Gonna attempt a week long backpack deer hunting trip with the wife for the Ohio gun season this year but she's going to have to stay warm in order to make it the whole week. |

The thing that sold me on them was when I was in the Army and waking up covered in a sheet of ice but still being uncomfortably hot/stuffy. |

All the layers plus the goretex and sleeping in a fleece or PCU level 7 stuff an it's probably impossible to freeze to death. |

I have slept in one of these in alaska, negative whatever degrees, no tent.
You ever accidentally leave a boot out all night? It sucks at first but after a mile or two of rucking they warm up again.
The sleep system is one of the best things issued in the army. In the summer just bring the outer layer and if it is a bit chilly, just throw in your woobie. In winter bring the whole thing and you're good. |

This is where I got mine. It's a warm SOB. |

In winter bring the whole thing and you're good. I always used my boots as a pillow. Put them inside the GoreTex layer, then an extra ACU top, plus the two other layers of sleep sack, and the boots stayed warm enough that they didn't hurt when I put them on in the morning, but didn't stink or dirty my sleeping bag. |

Where the heck in Ohio is enough land to backpack for a week of deer hunting? During gun season??? |

A friend of mine swears to be complete you need a woobie to complete the system. If it's not cold enough to completely zip up but still need warmth. |

Where the heck in Ohio is enough land to backpack for a week of deer hunting? During gun season??? Family owns a little over 900 acres bordering Zaleski State Forest. A week is my goal, but it'll depend on her being comfortable. Hopefully we'll tag out the first day and not have to go in that far, but deer are impossible to pattern during Ohio's gun season since every bubba in the state hits the woods in the same week. |
