I know about blue, red, and black....but not green.  What does a green cover mean when it comes to modern US Passports?

Thanks

Green or Blue-Green?

The green ones should be out of date. They were issue in commemoration of the bicentennial of the US State Department Consular Service.

Blue-green is for noncitizens such as refugees.

wiki says: Refugee Travel Document (also known as "Refugee Passport") (blue-green cover)
Not a full passport, but issued to aliens who have been classified as refugees or asylees.[76]
Re-entry Permit (blue-green cover), cover titled "Travel Document"
Not a full passport, but issued to a permanent resident alien in lieu of a passport. The reentry permit guarantees them permission to reenter the U.S. and is usually valid for a period of two years.[77][78] A reentry permit can also be used by permanent residents who are stateless or cannot get a passport for international travel, or who wish to visit a country they cannot on their passport.[79]

btw  don't worry about paying expedited processing fees, I just got mine today, under 2wks

Green green.... some background.  Was speaking with a member of the federal gov. this afternoon in my office.  During the conversation she revealed she posessed a green passport but was unable to reveal what the green cover meant compared to the blue, red, and black.

So I gathered something that required clearance of some sort at the very least.

Thanks

Green covers were again issued from April 1993, until March 1994, and included a special one-page tribute to Benjamin Franklin in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the United States Consular Service.

Yeah I'm kinda getting that feeling.  However, I can't understand why.  I wasn't in a position of any real authority over her or cause her harm.  She was perfectly fine talking about interesting aspects of her experience and jobs but when we were BSing around I happened to ask if she had a red or black passport...that's when she said green and then said she couldn't say any more about it.  Now knowing the color of her passport wouldn't have really been giving anything away that she already hadn't.  So why lie?

I learned a long time ago that when someone says "that's all I can say" or "it's classified" they are a liar.

Why they would I don't know. Narcacism, border line personality, or just straight tarded.

I had two green passports as a dependent when my father was deployed overseas.  I remember that my father had a red passport, and the rest of us had green.

These.

People who have "nothing to say" don't tell you that. And that's all I can say about that.

Not sure what years that was but back in the 90's they actually were green.  It had to do with commemorating Ben Franklin.  Not sure on the specifics but I glanced over it on wikipedia.

Yeah I picked up on the narcissism.  And now I'm thinking that was it.  Bizarre considering the nature of the dialogue but certainly possible.
