I cannot deny the beauty in the power....I have always been fascinated by footage of these chain reactions.  The footage from "The Day After" especially gets my heartrate going.  Such awesome power.

I don't mean to sound like a peacenik, but nuclear weapons still scare the shit out of me. I grew up during the tail end of the cold war, and I do not believe that we are out of the nuclear woods yet.

I'll be the first to admit that nuclear weapons saved millions of American lives by ending WWII without forcing the invasion of Japan, but I wish that they had never progressed beyond that point.

That was cool! Thanks for the great find Specop!

About 20 yrs ago the .gov set off an underground nuke near here. It was an experiment to see if they could fracture the bedrock to release more natural gas. It didn't work out as well as they hoped. Now they have "hot" natural gas in that immediate area.

Anyways, I've talked to some of the locals who were there to witness the thing. They said you could see the ground swell come at you like a wave on the beach. Just like you see in the vid. Wish I could have been there.
