Okay, if this is a dupe then lock it, but I searched back 30 days and didn't find this title. Last night I rented the movie "Untraceable" on DVD and gave it a spin. I watched it right after a blogging session on ARFCOM, only to find it was a movie about blogging. Wow! In case you don't know the plot, a psycho with an untraceable web address has created a website on which you can watch him murder people. The more hits the site gets, the faster the victims die. Enter the FBI, and a female agent played by Diane Lane. She is the chief cyber sleuth in the FBI field office where this is happening (Seattle area). She goes after the guy and it becomes high tech cat and mouse. I won't include any spoilers. It was a pretty good flick, BUT, within like the first five minutes or so, there is a scene that really set my teeth on edge and detracted from my enjoyment of it. The FBI is after this guy for pirating movies, and so the female agent logs into her super computers and (with like five keystrokes) pulls up his name, address, a picture of him, all his vital stats, and HOW MANY GUNS HE OWNS. ("Oh, he has three handguns and two assault rifles REGISTERED at his address"). I highly doubt Washington State has gun registration (???), so is that just liberal, Hollywood propaganda? Minor footnote: Mary Beth Hurt plays the mother of the female FBI agent. She used to be a real hottie, but she has NOT aged well, sadly. |
The gun thing pissed me off too, the dialogue made it seem that the guns were what made him really bad. |
Thanks. That was my impression too. I'm sure it was just a typical, liberal Hollywood slam against law abiding gun owners. |
