I've been out of the hardware loop for the past 2 years, and I have no idea what is new in the graphics card, CPU, ect area. I am looking however to upgrade my PC, I want to turn it into a badass, atleast a mid-top level badass.

right now my specs are

Asus Delux rev 2.0 mobo
AMD XP 3200+
1gb DDR PC3200
GF FX5900

and thats about all that I want to upgrade in my PC. What would you all recommend? how much would it cost? and where can I order the parts from?

ETA: This is for gaming, so I want it to be able to run all the new games coming out in fairly high detail. GR 3, Crysis, ect.

my system is a 64bit 3k+  1.5gb of pc3200 ram.  ati 850 pro (agp card).   160 SATA (150) drive.

if I was you, upgrade your ram to 2gb.  and upgrade your video card.

im a heavy bf2 player for now.   it runs with all detail on high, flawlessly

edit:

i get alot of parts from newegg.  unless my vendors have it cheaper, or more readily available to me

newegg +1

latest and greatest card is the 7900 series I belive they have a gt and gtx model. 7800 series is no slouch and cheaper.
I'd upgrade to 2 gigs of ram too.
And snag a 3700+ if you don't want to spend to much...if you want to go all out get a dual core.
New mobo. Abit has a new one coming out "KN9" i think it are.
