Recently, I've been having "VPU Recovery Error/Failure" during gameplay. It does this on multiple games I've tried. I've tried using 7.5 and 7.4 drivers from ATI.

My card: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB.

I use to have problems with it now and again a long time ago, but for a while I didn't have any problems. Now, I can't get 10 minutes into a game without it crapping out on me.

Any ideas? Please?

Does the card have a fan on the heatsink?  Might check to see if it is running hot...

Check to see if it's overheating

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the card?

Have you tested the computer RAM memory?  Truth be told, the RAM is probably not the issue, but it's so easy to test, might as well....
If you already know or have tested your system ram, ignore the rest of this post
Download this program:
Microsoft Windows Memory Test

Run that program, and create either a start up floppy disc, or a bootable cd.  Put the disc in and restart your computer.  The program will boot up and will test your memory.
