I normally smoke a cigar every two weeks or so but I'm laid up right now without much else to do. So I've been smoking a cigar a night. I've never noticed before but is it normal for one cigar to be a 90+ on your personal scale and the next one to be nearly unsmokeable from the same box, stored in your humidor the same time etc..? Talking big name cigars here. Experienced it on two different occasions in the last week. |

Quoted: Oliva G or O? I never had any problem with Oliva V. I never got to like Nub, which is also by Oliva. |

Well, I guess I will serve up the unpopular opinion:
It is possible the problem is you. Could you be drawing too hot.... smoking it too fast... it'll make a cigar bitter Relighting it can too Could be as simple as the stuff you are drinking with it, or just before Could be allergies. (if you can't smell, you can't taste) |

The sage continues. 3rd nub out of the same box. Smoked the same way as the first 2. The first was fantastic, the 2nd was usmokable and the 3rd was ok to pretty good. Maybe it was just a dud. All smoked on almost consecutive nights. With another brand in there one night and it was spot on with what I expected. I pretty much only drink water. I don't even drink alcohol so that's probably not the issue. I dunno holding onto the dud theory. I'll know tomorrow night. I normally get over an hour to almost an hour and a half out of a 354 nub. |

I've had that happen. Also with burn quality (unwravelling, cracks in body, flameouts, etc.). Quoted:

Gurkha are known to do that, and have occationally experience similar with Ashton, Oliva, and even ISOM. Mine were Gurkhas. |

I had a 4th nub last night and it was on part with the really good one so 1 out of 4 were bad so far. So I'm OK with calling it a dud right now. I normally don't buy boxes so if you buy singles or small samples you never really know from one lot to the next how it was handled before hand etc... |
