I am thinking about purchasing Vector's V-53 SBR weapon but I had a few questions concerning the weapon. I spoke Vector Arms on the phone and though they were very friendly they couldn't give out any information on who manufactures the receivers. I would like to inspect one of these weapons before I purchase but I don't know of any dealers who may have them in the Arizona area. If anyone has any insight or first hand knowledge as to the reliability of Vector's V93/53 rifles it would be greatly appreciated?hug.gif

the whole "clone weapons" world seems to be a huge cluster-fu*k to me, as far as who gets what from whom and whatever...

i'm sure someone with some first-hand experiance will jump in, but iirc vector makes their own recievers now. i believe *originally* they used [cough]special weapons[cough] parts.

vector seems to have quite a good reputation though.

you might want to check out the guys at ohio rapid fire too. i believe they still do use SW parts, but, whatever... wish i could be more help.

I bought one of their first  93 style weapons  about a year before they were  selling them to the public and am quite pleased with it.  The dealer I bought it from had a couple of  extraction issues and Vector took it back and swapped the entire rifle out.
The quality, fit and finish are excellent. You might check out  the HK section of the armory board and see  the picks of  one board members recent  example.
So far I've put about 400 rounds or so through it without a hicup. The receivers on these  may or may not be SW, but from what I've seen it's who puts them together that matters.

The only guy on the board to do an extensive review on it was told by Vector to remove the link to the review.

Vector seems to make good quality weapons. I'd buy one.

Was he told to remove the thread or was he just denied a group purchase over it?

If the thread is truely gone, for those that never saw it, all it said was Vector V-53 was a decent weapon but it didn't quite have the quality a true H&K HK-93 has.

The review was on another board.  He was told to remove the link to it. Other sanctions followed as well against him.  They can't do much to you if you are a private individual, but if you run a gun store they can refuse to sell to you. He said it was a good product but needed improvement in a few areas.  Instead of listening to him and saying they would improve it, they went after him economically.

The irony is, if it is truly a great product now, he would be generating sales for them by praising it here. As it is now, I won't touch it because the one person whose opinion I trust more than anyone else on HK systems is not allowed to purchase and review it.

At the same time this was going on, a Vector employee appears on the HK forum telling us how great the product is. How convenient and self-serving of them.

The bottom line is, it was a close product then and might be a great product now, but I won't touch it because I saw how the company employees reacted to a review.  I have all the guns I need, and I do not need an HK clone. I wanted one, that's all. I have spent thousands of dollars on guns I have wanted since that incident, but spent it on other rifles and pistols, built by companies that didn't rub me the wrong way or sanction ARFCOMERS for writing reviews.

If I remember this, Toad went after him (SA) and caused a big stink with Vector.
