One of my best freinds and retired Marine, is dealing with a glioblastoma. He is a shadow of his former self. He needs constant care and been approved for the local veterans nursing home. My question is who covers the bill? He has Tricare and 100%disabled. Does the home take his pension as payment? That could leave his wife in dire financial straits but I have no clue as to their financial health. This sucks for my freind and family having to deal with his illness. Money matters make it worse I would think. |

Call the home as soon as you can to check on and reserve a spot. They will email you all of the paperwork and a checklist of documents needed. You can discuss funding. It will take some research and possibly a visit to a lawyer to sort out Fed/State requirements, which can vary. I started this process in New Mexico for my Dad, but he passed before anything could get past the paperwork stage. Get started quickly. |

He's 100% due to hip, double knee replacements, and enlarged heart from misdiagnosis while active duty. At least thats what I remember him saying. |
| My FIL was a retired Marine and didn't get squat. If he hadn’t have owned land and had a decent savings account, he would have gotten a free ride. Go figure. |
