Alright, I need suggestions. I am finally going to purchase a camcorder or whatever these things are called and so I can put out my own videos on my blogsite... These will be mostly just Youtube length 10 minutes or so but I need something that will go a couple hours if I need it to. I have also heard that having an external wireless mic is helpful as well, can you get this feature in a relatively inexpensive unit? What are all the cool kids buying these days? This would be our families first video camera so I need input!  Thanks

Ok, if you just want a "soccer mom" camera, I'd at least recommend something in HD, something with removable media, like a Compact Flash card that is reusable and easily transferred to computer.

As far as audio is concerned, wireless mics are usually only for higher-end applications like interviews, walking-around shots, etc. It sounds like you just need a decent quality onboard shotgun mic. You can find a decent variety of models that will clip onto your camera as well as be handheld, tethered by a cable.

B&H Photo is a good place to window shop. They have a huge selection, so you can find what you want depending on your budget.

Here's a starter for you. It's got pretty much anything you need. It may be a little pricey for you, but it's a good starting point.

Or, a cheaper alternative might be:

i'd probably buy something like this
you need to be able to quickly transfer from camcorder to computer.  stay away from anything with tapes for this reason

Sony makes the best camcorders by far. I have a year old HDR SR11, and it is fantastic.
