Hey all,

I'm looking to create some videos to put up on my company's website (probably via you tube).

What good video editing software have you guys used?  I've never done any video editing or production, but I'm generally a pretty quick learner so I don't necessarily need a Dumbed-down editor.  I'd just like to be able to make something professional-looking to showcase some of our products and services (and increase web traffic )  Of course, free is great, though I'd be willing to pay a little, but I can't do a editing suite that's hundreds of dollars.  What have you guys used?

Thanks!

PC:  Adobe Premiere Elements

Mac:  Final Cut Express, looks like there is a Mac version of APE now also.

Thanks guys, those do look good.  Before I buy something, are there any good free/open source options in this area?  Google reveals a number of choices, but I'm wondering if any of them are worth my time.

Also, are there any particular features in a video editor that are a must?

Thanks.

None that I have ever found, tried a few but ended up buying one.  I know APE has a trial version available, download and try it before buying.  Ulead VideoStudio (now owned by Corel) is another one I used a while back that might be worth looking at.

These two are it for low cost.

Free sucks, don't waste your time. There is no GIMP for video yet.

Sadly true.  The closest I've found is virtualdub or avidemux and they don't do any effects or what not. Just literally splice vid A + vid B + vid C.

I've used Vegas Video for all of my video stuff. Gets the job done. Dabbled in Premiere a little for some trickier stuff, but Vegas should get the job done for you.
