Can anyone recommend me a (free) video conferencing software package to use with webcams?

Thanks.

If you wanted to do a point to point (i.e. one person to one person) videconference, you'd need to use something like MSN Messenger or Yahoo Messenger.  That will allow you to do that for free.

Anything more than that (say you wanted to do 3 parties or more) I'd suggest you use a bridging service which will cost money.

Coming from some one in the business this is correct. The down side is that bridging services are not able to connect to webcams due to the video protocals. I know some one is working on some software that will allow us to connect Skype but its not available yet and may not be for another year or two. If you want to do it from your PC I would recomend Polycom as they have some programs that will allow you to connect to bridges as well as doing some multipoint calls (3 -4). Just remember that the quality all depends on your connection speed and the number of sites you are connecting to. If doing multi point calls your quality drops by half for each site you connect to.
