I have an 8 year old computer I just started messing with.   The video suddenly stopped working.  It looks like the connector is soldered to the mother board.

Is there anything I can do to salvage this ?   I noticed that there are some USB to VGA devices out there...   are they plug and play suck that I would see the screen simply by plugging one of them in between the computer and monitor.   Without video I can do anything to config the setup.  Would some sort of VGA card work plug and play.   Not sure what to try.

If you plug a VGA card it, it will take over from the onboard video.

If the MB is old enough, you might have to move a jumper to disable the onboard video.

Does it have a PCI slot?  A PCI video card might work in your computer.  I used one in my late unlamented Comcrap for years.

I just checked and Newegg has a bunch of them
