I have to stay in Downtown Chicago for a few days. Work related stuff. I know it's not the gun-nut capitol of the world but I'm going to try to make ther best of it. I'll be staying downtown. I'll be there during the week and working all day. What is there to do on a weeknight in downtown Chicago? Eat? Make fun of the disarmed locals? |

I was in chicago area for business durring 9/11, haven't been back since. But we used to go several places...(I've only been about 6 times, this is what I can recall...) if you like the Blue's, there are several good places to go. If it's clear, a trip to the top of the Sears and Hancock buildings is pretty cool. some stuff happening out at the Navy Pier sometimes Pizza @ Gino's East and ______ (darn, can't recall the other place, both have excellent pizza) A trip to Wrigley Fild is great if your a baseball fan. (I went here last time) The Sox were out of town at the time so I didn't make it to Comisky(?) park. if you can get a day off, the Museum of Science and Industry is pretty cool. oh, fwiw, I was told not to venture south of the "loop" on the train, after hours w/o a couple friends.. other than that, I've walked the streets day and night downtown and north of the river w/o problems. |

I do a trade show in Chicago each January; use the old expense account to the max. Of all the places I've eaten there, my favorite is still The Berghoff. It's about 100 years old, great German food, great beer brewed by the owners, great service, and very reasonably priced. Short cab ride from all the major hotels. 40MIKE |

I'm a fresh breadaholic and make my appetizer their rye and wheat breads with butter and washed down with the house dark beer. If you like to bar hop, try Rush Street. Lots of choices there. |

I've been to Chicago a few times & had several hours to kill & went to the following: Museum Of Science & Technology... The U505 is a must see. They also had the Spirit Of America land speed car there when I went. Field Museum/Adler Planetarium/Aquarium.. didn't get to see the aquarium but the Field museum is pretty cool. Not sure how to do links but here's an url http://mapquest.digitalcity.com/chicago/entertainment/ Should be helpful. |
