I have a new MacBook Pro and would like some opinions on this. VMware Fusion, Virtual Box, etc.
Which one, and why? Cost is not a factor. The use will be for tinkering with various OS's and applications that don't have ports or native options under OS X. |

Fusion.
I work with a parallels product called Plesk. DO NOT WANT parallels products. Fuck those Russian dumbasses. They will completely change the way shit is done in their products for no good fucking reason. Last I used Fusion, you could set up Windows in BootCamp, and Fusion could use that partition as a virtual disk for a VM, so you could run your BootCamp OS as a VM inside of OS X |

I expected many positive replies for VMware. question: Why NOT Parallels instead of Fusion? Quoted:
Use Parallels here, it's just kind of a RAM hog, but i've never had many problems with it. Because the Russian devs are dipshits. See my comment above. By 'the Russian devs', I mean that Parallels is a Russian company and the developers of their products are Russian. They are not very logical and will change shit up for no good fucking reason in new versions of their shit. |

Quoted: I expected many positive replies for VMware. question: Why NOT Parallels instead of Fusion? I believe it is a subtle but significant difference. Parallels was developed to integrate Windows based software into the OS X work environment - for Mac users that want to use them side by side. Fusion emphasizes a more dedicated virtualization environment. Similar concepts, but slightly different approaches. |
