Im looking at a 2004 Volvo S60R and want to know what the general opinion is of these cars. Besides the performance, how does everything stack up. Reliability, gas mileage, and maintenance. Car I am looking at has 60k miles and was owned by one person.

Not to change the topic too far, but the wife and I are looking at a vehicle to replace a 2003 Ford Explorer (95000 mi).  We found a Volvo S60 AWD with 25,000 miles.  I would like to hear/see everyone's opinions on these vehicles.  We have three kids and they seem to fit in the back well.  Soon one will be old enough to ride in the front to make more room in the back.  The only other concern is dirt roads in the spring time with the mud and the ground clearance.

I have heard a lot of positive feedback about the Volvos, but would like some first hand accounts.

Thanks,

Mike

I've been driving volvos for 14 years now, and still have a 2001 S80. As much as I like the brand, you'll find a few common problems. Mainly electrical and brake issues. If you plan on keeping it for a while, look into extended warranties that cover electrical problems, but don't be surprised if it's expensive.
