Any Arfcommers use this? $25 bucks a month nationwide with unlimited minutes seems like a good deal to me. Any hidden catches? And what's with the whole 911 not working thing?
TIA.

I've been using vonage as my only non-cell-phone for about 6 months now.  I like it, it works great for me.  The best part is that tons of features that are either optional fees or completely unavailable from the local Bell company are included in their standard base fee (Caller ID, Call Waiting, Call Waiting Caller ID, Hold, Transfer, 3-way, Voicemail, Forwarding, Simul-ring (like forwarding, but start ringing the other phone immediately while the first phone is still ringing, letting you pick up either - I have this set to my cellphone)).

And everything is web-accessible too.  You can change any of your phone/transfer/simul-ring/voicemail/etc settings from any web browser.  You can also browse your incoming and outgoing call log on the web, and listen to your voicemails on the web.  You can also have WAV audio files of new voicemails emailed to any email address the minute they're recorded.

The downside is that 911 service sucks, in case you haven't heard in the news lately.  What sucks about it is even though they make an effort to do it right, they often route the calls to the wrong local E911 dispatch, and/or give said dispatch incorrect location information for you.

i have had it for about 1 month. so far so good. havent need it for 911 yet. after hearing about their problems, i'd probably use my cell and the vonage phone both and call 911 just to be sure it got through.

+1 for Vonage.  I have had a few problems with 800 numbers not working but in the 6+ months I've had it I am very happy with the savings.
