I tried searching and didn't find anything before posting this.

I have narrowed it down to Vortex Optics & Aimpoint.

Vortex: Spitfire 1x or the Strikefire II
Aimpoint: T-1

Does anyone have experience with any of these?  What is your opinion of each?
When it comes to the Vortex, I didn't like that the flip caps do not fit snug, it's a minor detail but I know it's there and would bother me.  Having said that I can just take them off. I know Aimpoint is battle tough, both companies seem to have good reviews.  Cost is a non-issue.  This is going to be mounted on my Six8 UCIW for HD, range time & classes from time to time.

I'm looking forward to reading responses and thank you in advance.

If you have dough for the Aimpoint and cost is no issue,  buy the Aimpoint.

Aimpoint's better.....

That said I'm VERY happy with Vortex for the price, own three of their red dots.  Held up to Saiga-12 shotgun recoil, .308 recoil and hard abuse.

Cost is non-issue and for defense?  Without any doubt Aimpoint.

I have an original Strikefire and it's one hell of a red dot, for the price.

If I had to, I wouldn't feel TOO bad about using one in a defensive role.

Given the choice, I'd run the Aimpoint in a defensive role.

The Vortex is unlikely to fail, when you really need it. The Aimpoint is less likely to fail.

strikefire is awesome for the cost. it is without a doubt the best bang for the buck product. if cost is no issue I wouldn't consider anything but the aimpoint.

I hear nothing but good things about Vortex.

If money is not a big concern, I'd still take the Aimpoint. And I think Aimpoint battery life is to the point where you can always leave the device on, for years.

Aimpoint.

There are no secrets with Aimpoint. You know where it's made, who made it and their reputation is flawless. There is a reason why Aimpoint is used on the scale it is.

I have 3 T1s. They are the best RDS ever.... 50000 hour battery life and almost weightless. Marry it to a Larue LT 660 and you will able to think or worry about something else. I have been unable break any of mine and that is an accomplishment.

FYI 400 yards hits are easy with a T1 and nothing is faster and lighter than any other.

Aimpoints win in this case for serious use.

The only time I'd consider Vortex is when it's not my go-to rifle, or I was getting a PST or Razor 1-4/1-6.

FWIW, I do have several 1-4s on my rifles and the glass is awesome.  My SR-15 wears a 1-6.

I'd also put a Strikefire or Sparc on a rifle just to get a good quality optic on it without spending Aimpoint $$.

Here's a test done by zero7one which I believe will be a good testament to Vortex's quality.

I love my Vortex Strikefire.     I'm going to have to send it back though.    It turns on and off with each shot,   I shot thousands of rounds through it before it started.    It started when I turned the happy switch on.    I'm sure Vortex will take care of it, I just havn't had the time to send it in.   They have a GREAT warranty.

I can't speak for Vortex, although I've heard nothing but great things about them.
I can say that I got an Aimpoint M4 about 6 years ago, put it on my rifle, turned it on to brightness setting 11, sighted it in and haven't turned it off since.
After years of it being left on, taken on and off for cleaning countless times, thrown around and generally neglected, it hasn't skipped a beat and is still POA/POI.
I've also had an Aimpoint PRO on another rifle for a few years that has been left on brightness setting 8 and received the same treatment as the Comp M4, and I just had to change the battery about a week ago.

I have a Strikefire but havn't had the chance to really run yet.

I'd go with the T1 though.

I plan on getting either a T1 or 2 myself.

I think, maybe pretty sure but maybe not.

Still deciding.

I had the Vortex Sparc and it never failed me. In fact there was  a review thread on here where a member really tortured one and it still functioned. If I remember correctly he threw it off the roof, froze it, and did all sorts of stuff to it. After viewing that I'd have no concerns with the product or its reliability.

With that being said it did have a slight blue tint. It wasn't bad but noticeable. Do Aimpoint products have the same issue? From pictures it seems they do, if not, that would likely be the ONLY reason I would choose Aimpoint over Vortex.

I've had a Vortex Strikefire for a while now and just got a Strikefire II delivered yesterday. I like 'em and see no reason to spend more.
