Was it Germany or Russia that got their butts kicked by the Finns despite overwhelming odds? Anybody got a link to the numbers?

It certainly could be considered as part of WW2 in Europe, given the USSR's non-aggression pact with the Third Reich defining spheres of influence and the subsequent actions of each country permitted by that agreement. The Baltic republics were absorbed as part of it as well.
The Russians desired territory and access to resources and struck the Finns after Britain and France were at war with Germany. The Russians utimately got the Finns to sue for peace and got concessions...however, this resulted in Finland allying with Germany to attack the USSR in 1941. |

This table is BS. Soviet losses in the War with Finland: KIA 65,384 MIA 19,610 Wounded 248,090 this counts 9614 frostbite cases and 51,892 sick |
