Am I doing this correctly? If I bought MVIS @ $5000 back on 3/31/20 it would be worth close to $46000 today?

How many shares? What's your cost average? Your broker should show the value of your position.

$0.1725 on 3/31. Say I sank $5000 into it on that day.

ETA: Yes I am saying IF I did buy back then.

Well, at that amount you would have bought 28,985 shares. Since MVIS ended at 1.47 on market close today, you'd have $42,608.68.

You would have bought 28,985 shares give or take.

28,985 x 1.47 = 42,609

So yeah

Yes, even with today's sell-off your current holdings value would be worth $43,234. However, you would have to pay short term capital gains on the sale, plus commission (if any). Oops, missed the $0.0025 on the end there

Excellent thanks fellas. Still learning and trying to wrap my head around this stuff. Looks like I'd pay 22% short term gain on that. So $9511 ouch.

You gotta pay to play with penny stocks since these are short term holds. I threw $3500 in an account just to mess around with. I'm slowly working my way to doubling that (up $600 right now) as I learn and once that happens, I'll pull my initial investment and then just play with the profits. I've been fairly cautious so my losses have been low but, that means my gains have also been low.

Kind of funny...got my facts a little twisted and got called a liar on the DOW below 25K thread, but true nonetheless. We have a fairly high net worth, but don't draw much income from investments over/above my mil retirement because we don't need it. So...wife took our Trumpbucks, that I had given her in total for a garden fountain, and bought 10K shares at $0.22, then flipped them in the mania a short time later for $1.60.

She gives me the baleful eye and says, "Fourteen years and you haven't made a dime? Looks pretty easy to me..."

AQMS a recycle company has been in a slump but steady climbing since covid. I was reading about lack of recycle capability since China is not taking a lot of waste metal due to the tariffs. I want to see where it develops .

GNUS is a odd equity. It's almost like their only objective is to get debt free and hope someone buys them.

There's a lot of if's in the market.

If everyone bought low and sold high we'd all be rich.

The reality is you only know that in hindsight.

Sounds like a good plan for them.

And with 97M shares in existence, with $55M in the bank and no debt each share could be valued around $0.56

I mean if you think about it, they don't have any intrinsic value. The company made its run with the Kartoon channel, but the big boys and network broadcasters already have those, so why does the world need another one?

They're probably just developing an IP portfolio specifically to sell the company, as you said.

How much could they possibly make?

Not saying I won't buy some because you're right it is too cheap. It actually has a fee to buy it.

It is bad when GNUS is doing better than MVIS.

Just have to sit and be patient.

I hate to quote myself (JK, do it all the time), but this is from the 18th...

"There's apt to be a long, dull stretch here with very little price movement except a gentle drift down into the $0.93 cent range (ETA: okay, not so gentle, but still...). At least...that's the historical model (the last re-certification was Feb 2019). Good for me, I'm still sitting on the powder I held in reserve for the compliance fight, and I'm looking for sub-dollar shares."

and...from later the same day after someone was yanking my chain about underestimating that single day's pop...

"One day does not a LONG dull stretch make. There's obvious enthusiasm coming off yesterday's compliance, and I expect another pop when the "official" announcement is made, but trust me when I tell you IF we go into a month(s) long protracted period of silence the speculators will drift away to chase their daily adrenaline dose elsewhere. The 'twits and 'hoods can barely focus through any given weekend."

At this point, the only short term mover will be 1) a contract announcement, 2) a merger/buyout announcement, or 3) an earnings surprise at the next quarterly. Absent one of those, you're either content to wait or moving on to the next "hot" thing.

I'm not the greatest at this stuff, but this looks like a buying opportunity to me for MVIS.  Trend is still intact on my scribble
Maybe even get another shot at picking up some sweet sweet 1.20 shares I wish I'd picked up about this time last week.

But...why? Just like those Arquillian battle cruisers, there's always the next Apple rumor, or fabricated Stocktwats article, or...God forbid, a real announcement to send the reel spinning back up. What's your time frame?

ETA: deleted preachy part, I misunderstood...it's a trailing stop. Hopefully we stabilize well above that, but the big players can see your sell order, along with everyone else. They will dump big blocks occasionally to wipe those out and pocket cheap shares.

Correct. I'll have to pay short terms gains.

i don't pay it right away. I'll get a print out from my brokerage account next year. You can also right off losses if you lose money on a stock.

Another short play is CJJD. Chinese drug store chain. Reporting earnings soon (between 6.29 and 7.6)
Expected to be up due to COVID sales.
