Does it still show as if you have the same amount of shares you had, just valued at 4x the new share price after the split occurs? I don't know. Maybe I’m to slow, but what is the point of the June 21 cutoff date if you can still buy up to July 19 to still be part of the stock split? |

View Quote It's really for the company and the brokerages. The company has a list of who was on Record that date, which they will distribute shares to. The brokerage will determine if that person still has the original shares, if they do then they get the split, if not its forwarded to whoever their shares were sold to. It doesn't really effect the retail trader at all. |

Because the stock split is being initiated in the form of a stock dividend, the ex-dividend date governs which investors are eligible to receive the newly split shares. In this case, NVIDIA's stock split goes ex-dividend on July 19, according to a spokesperson for brokerage house Charles Schwab. This means that investors can buy NVIDIA shares right up to July 19, and still be eligible to receive the additional shares from the stock split once the shares begin trading on a split-adjusted basis when the market opens July 20." View Quote This is a good explanation. There is no value created or destroyed in a stock split in and of itself. There are just more shares at a lower price in the same ratio (in a forward split - reverse splits are the opposite). There certainly stigmas in splits though, which may lead to some price action. For example, one potential opportunity is for stocks like NVDA undergoing a split is that the lower stock price may make buying a share or two more approachable to smaller investors than a sky high price is. Partial share investing has offset this in recent years, but it'll be interesting to see what happens when NVDA splits. |

There are a lot of other tickers I wish I could say that about. |

Something to think about with DPLS is that their technology may be looked at in the future as a potential way to prevent future mass casualty events like with the condo collapse in Florida through early warning/prevention.
|

Well, that's just fantastic.

Lots of things that would seem to fit well. It will take a while for any of that to materialize into production or maybe even code requirements. But if things progress, there is a lot of room for that price to move. I am long on DPLS and SENS along with my MVIS investment. |
