I've always thought of Warren Zevon as the Hunter S. Thompson of the music industry. Very talented and with enough eccentricity to make him interesting. We lost him too soon.

He was my ODA's unofficial singer/performer. Nothing like coming in to the team room with Roland blasting out of the cassette player.

Went to sleep listening to him last night.

I miss Warren Zevon.

Certainly one of the best examples of alliteration.

Released in 1978, popular for many years thereafter.

I was glad I got to see him perform live. Had seats just a couple of rows back from the stage. Awesome night.

RIP Mr. Zevon.

I remember the first time I listened to it. On a school bus, the bus driver was playing it over the intercom

Listen to the crowd. Laughing at first, cheering like crazy at the end. The man could tell a story like the rest of us hope to when we begin telling a tale.

My favorite Zevon piece.  "And if California slides into the ocean, like the mystics and statistics say it will, I predict this motel will be standing until I pay my bill..."

"Keep Me In Your Heart" is a heartbreaker, because he knew he was dying when he performed it.  It's a cry from the heart.

Yep, I learned of Warren Zevon on my first team with Jan.  Lawyers, Guns, and Money is a good tune and of course Rowland.   Jan was more of a meatloaf guy.  He would get real gruff when we would steal his cassette player before a patrol and sing him lyrics over the radio net.

Somehow, his music passed me by.  I've heard of him, but never really listened to him.

From what I've read and watched in this thread, I missed out.  The guy could spin a yarn through music.
