J M-L WalMart makes their money on the backs of their employees. They have been known to take out life insurance policies on the elderly greeters they hire & collect on those policies when the employees pass on. Their families don't get a DIME! They limit...See More D C Hey J, I don't know if the "life insurance" thing is true, but if it is, why are you against it? Are you saying Wal-Mart or any other entity cannot take out insurance policies on people? Why should WM share insurance payouts that they get on policies they've purchased? If I take out an insurance policy on you why should I share it with someone else? If you want a payout YOU TAKE THE RISK. This is no different than winning the lottery. The person who bought the winning ticket gets the payout and advocating that that person shares the winnings IS THEFT. J M-L It seems WRONG on so many levels, Douglas. You hire old people so you can cash in when they die????you don't think that's crossing a moral boundary? At least in a lottery, everyone has the same odds... D C Everyone has the same opportunity to take out life insurance policies, m'am. Everyone has the opportunity to hire people, too. If you don't like the fact that WM hires old people, maybe you can figure out a way to hire them yourself. J M-L If I did....I certainly wouldn't do so because I could cash in when they die! D C Personally, if you did hire them, I think you should be forced to buy a life insurance policy on them. J M-L I would have less of a problem with this policy, if they offered apportion to their families. It's not like they can't AFFORD to do that! D C No, you misunderstand me. I think *you* (pointing at you, personally) should be forced to buy the policies. J M-L Huh? D C Precisely. You shake your head in disbelief when someone advocates you do something you wouldn't normally do...but it's "fair" for you to point the finger at others and do the same. J M-L How dare you pass judgement on me! This policy is not one I support (& I do NOT shop at WalMart because icon or support their policies) so why would I do something I am so morally I opposed to...even if I were a multi BILLION dollar corporation!!! You sir, are an ASS! D C As I was saying.... D C Only an ass would try to force someone to do something against their will or wishes. |

My employer has a life insurance policy on me. Having policies on your essential employees is part of a reasonable succession policy. You're going to take a financial hit if a critical employee dies because you're going to have to hire a replacement, train them, and hope to hell the institutional knowledge held by the decease employee was properly documented. You're undoubtedly going to lose some knowledge no matter what, and it'll take time to recreate that knowledge from scratch. Admittedly, I have no clue why you would have an insurance policy on a greeter. |
| Have to have an 'Insurable interest'. So for example, any Joe Blow could not take out a policy on just someone else because that person might be at risk. Example: your, yourself would not be allowed to take out a policy on Bill Clinton unless you could show how his death would affect you financially. There's specific criteria which I don't recall. |

You aren't going to make money on an insurance policy any more than you'll make money in the long term at the roulette table. Insurance companies didn't get fancy skyscrapers by paying out more in benefits than they collect in premiums.
It looks like this was an elaborate tax dodge. The company was borrowing money from the insurance company and writing it off as an expense, then collecting on policies. |

Just tell that idiot libtard that corporations buy life insurance on some of their employees all the time.
This is nothing new. Also tell that idiot libtard if Walmart really does this and starts a policy on a person when they are really old, their premiums will be very expensive. And, finally, just tell that idiot libtard that she is a fucking idiot. |
