I have a Maytag Dependable Care washer and it's currently giving me issues.  It will fill with water all day....but after it fills it just will not move onto the next step.  I don't know if it is something with the Spin Cycle or what.  I have had to empty it twice with the shop vac and looking for some guidance, I'm pretty handy, just don't know the in's and out's of these.

Sounds like a problem with the cycle timer or possibly the water level sensor/switch. Does it not work if you advance the cycle manually? Does the cycle timer advance but just not do anything?

Does it make noise like it should be spinning? There is a small Lovejoy coupling between the motor and transmission that goes bad.

I buy parts from them here and there, they are GTG.

Update:  The only thing it will do is fill with water.  I can fill it from the normal wash cycle or from the rinse cycle.  After it fills it will not move on.  The switch stays right where it is when the water stops to fill.  So the switch/knob does not advance.  When I manually advance it nothing will happen.  Ideas please

If the washer fills but does not start agitating check to make sure the mechanical lid swtich is working.  The washer lid must trip a physcial limit switch in order to know the lid is down so it may begin agitation.  This is same safety feature that stops agitation when you open the lid.  Isolate where that mechanical swith is that interacts with the lid and check it for function first.  Sometime they are actuated by a rod that is sucured with screws to the lid that become loose.  This allows the rod to flex or keeps it from fully activating the swith.  Soemtimes you can just tighten the screws and be good to go.  A lot of washers have a mechanical switch- that is even with the power off you can hear a click-click and now you're tripping it.  If you are tripping the switch then maybe the timer?  When it doesn't agitate do you hear noises like it is trying to?
