I have a 7 yr old Whirlpool washer that stopped spinning and agitating. All it would do is roar, but noting would turn. Repair guy comes out and ends up being the transmission. He replaces it and we go to use it tonight and all it does is agitate. No spin. The water does pump out. No matter where the dial says spin, it doesn't. Most of the dial commands are off as well. If I turn it to off, it rinses. Spin, it agitates. Etc.
I took the dial off and reinstalled it, but still nothing. Does this mean I need to replace the timer now? That I can do myself, but don't want to buy parts if I don't have to. |

Just went through this. There is a rubber coupler that connects the motor to the transmission. If it goes out, it will match the conditions you stated. In my case, the coupler was fine, so it was probably the transmission. The fix was buy another $160 washer form the scratch and dent place. |

you paid the repair guy, right? why aren't you calling him? I did. However It's Sunday and if someone here knows what the issue is, why would I pay someone probably twice as much for a part than I could order it myself and put it in. The timer only has two wiring harnesses and a screw, Simple fix. UPDATE: Not the timer. When the washer is completely empty, it runs fine. As soon as I put a few shirts in it and they are wet, the drum doesn't have enough power to spin, the agitator just moves. Take the clothes out, and it spins again. Replacement transmission was bad. |
