Came home last night after a kids soccer game and quick dinner out with the family and once we walked in the door we noticed the strong electrical smell coming from the laundry room. Found the washing machine still running (wife turned it one before we left, 2.5 hours before), hot as hell, very strong electrical, almost burning smell. I immediately unplugged it, checked for fire (none that I could find) and got a window open and fan on. Latter in the evening when it cooled down a bit I put it on spin cycle to drain the water and it worked fine, but then we noticed it did not turn off at end of spin (last). So best we can tell, the timer/control panel is not advancing from the stage you set it on which explains why it was running in wash mode for close to 3 hours earlier.
Has anyone else seen this before? I'd like to fix myself if possible and avoid repair bills and certainly new washing machine. Its a Whirlpool Washer LSL9244EQ0 and about 18 years old. |
