| ...on Sam Colt. Geez, what an absolute genius - engineering and marketing, his wife was no slouch either. Can't help but think that if the anti's knew about all this history they would change their minds. You can't change the harcore ones, but I think the moderate ones would definitely think twice about the role or firearms in history. Most amazing thing wsa his Patterson pistol still fires to this day. Wow. |

To the hardcore anti's, Sam Colt is Satan. Most of them blame him for making firearms popular (due to his extremely effective marketing) and for creation of the first high-volume "killing machine", a functional revolver. Remember, they embrace the revisionist "history" of Michael Bellisiles, where no one owned a gun until after the Civil War. They think that "God made Man, Sam Colt made him equal" is the equivalent of "Arbeit Macht Frei". Oh, and "Tales of the Gun" is, to them, pornography. The vast majority of "moderate" anti's just sway with the prevailing breeze. |
| As much as I like Tales of the Gun, they do not seem to favor civilian gun ownership. Every time they have a bit on about machine guns, or the like, they always seem to throw in a few "but in civilian hands" remarks that ruin the whole show for me. Some people praise the show but if you listen carefully enough you will a hear the those remarks I'm talking about. |

I'm sure TOTG producers favor civillian gun ownership? Why else would they show an hour of week of subliminal messages telling me to go out and buy more guns? Don't tell me they're not in the show, I know! I think they're in cahoots with american shooter. Last saturday american shooter shows a single action shooting match, and just yesterday TOTG features Colt firearms. Now I find myself wanting a pair of peacemakers. This is not just coincidence! They're trying to separate me from my money! |
