This is the first time I've watched the Terminator Special Edition DVD since I got a copy of it. Before that it was either on TV or on VHS.

First thing I noticed is they changed sound effects.

The sound of the .45 Longslide is different. It used to sound like the .44 Magnum from Dirty Harry.

The Uzi... different.

I think the shotgun is the same.

I kind of thing there is weird clicking sound with every step or at least every other step when the Terminator (Arnold) is walking.

The scene where Reese first comes to 1984, he falls and hit the pavement. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed this before but I guess it's possible I missed it.... before he falls you see a view of the whole ally, in an upward angle toward a fire escape and you see a black circle/ball where the time displacement field/lightning is coming from, kind of like the other movies. I'm almost certain that wasn't there before.

I know these are little things, but it's kind of like the Star Wars movies.... why do they find this need to fuck with shit that was fine just the way it was. It just bugs the shit out of me. I would rather watch this movie on VHS now unless there's an un-fucked with version on DVD.

The gunshots are really distracting in that "new" version, particularly in the police station shootout.

If the new sound mix bothers you that much, you can switch it back to the original mono soundtrack using the language options. Which is the way I always watch it, since the new mix DOES bug the shit outta me. :)

I'm not so sure if the time displacement effect was added or not. It seemed the same to me. If you've only seen it on TV or VHS, it might of gotten cut off when it was modified to FullFrame (pan&scan). Anyone still have a VHS copy to compare?

Cool. I'm checking out those language options now.
