Why did Longbaugh shoot the Mexican police officers at the motel? Why not just shoot the bodyguards?

I am thinking because the officers had their pistols in hand and if the bodyguards had fallen then they would have turned them on to them.. verse shooting the direct threat then taking out the bodyguards....

just my opinion though.

I dunno. Seems the bodyguards were the real threat to me.

Why not shoot the cops? Parker and Longbaugh were not nice people.

EDIT:  i'm guessing that and the torture of the bodyguard are plot devices to show just how ruthless they really were.

Because they were Mexican police.  Americans bitch about our cops, but we easily have it better than every other country.

Simply to take them out of the equation.

If the bodyguards were arrested or killed by the Mexican cops, Parker and Longbaugh would never get a chance at the ransom money.

Even in real gun shops Galil mags are hard to find, now imagine trying to find a black-market gun dealer that has them.

.308 galil mags, no less.

I loved that movie. Just wish I could find my damn copy.

So the obvious question is, "Why didn't they pick a gun that had readily available mags?"

Shhhh.  Be thankful they wanted something in the movie that people don't usually see.

I love that they show IWB holsters in the movie.  Both the bodyguards, Del Toro and James Cann character have them.  The only other movie I can think of that shows IWB in use is Collateral.

I agree.  It was rather unique.  Kind of like Heat.  What was that gun again?

In Casino Royal Bond used an IWB holster too. Although in non shoot action scenes he had a rubber P99 clone on him so he wouldn't hurt himself.

Nicky Katt just stuffs his HK in his waistband. I saw no holster.
