It's real simple. Less Government You can't have MORE laws, regulations, and rules, AND have less government. Government should serve ONE purpose, and ONE purpose only. It should defend and preserve INDIVIDUAL liberty, individual freedom. IF you believe otherwise then you must be honest with yourself and admit that YOU don't want less government. If you are honest with yourself you must admit that you indeed do support big government. To many people on this board support big government, but THINK that just because they don't support welfare they support less government. That couldn't be further from the truth. Welfare for the poor is a microscopic drop in the bucket in the total cost of government. When people look at the budget and see the line item welfare, most of them don't understand that it includes, underemployment insurance, workman's comp, and disability. They THINK welfare just means handouts to the poor. Which in truth only makes up a small portion of the federal welfare budget. Our largest expenses are Defense, Social Security, and Medicare. Those items make up the lion share of the cost of government. All else is small by comparison. Then there are the "Wars on..." programs. Like the "War on Drugs" or Prohibition 2 that has layers of cost...more LEO's, more courts, more jails...and programs. The War on Terror which adds to the cost of everything, and absolutely destroys freedom. In truth there are damn few TRUE small government advocates. Everyone wants their program, benefit, entitlement, and prohibition...all of which COST money and individual freedom. |
