We had a couple of international brothers in Lodge tonight. One of the good things about being in a vacation spot is that vacationing Masons will find you.

A brother from Canada didn't recognize one of our symbols. (We checked.)

This led to a discussion of Masonic symbols, including the xxxxx.

I asked a long time brother if he knew of anyone who ever used it.

He said that he had used it.

He was roller skating with a girl, way back before cell phones and she fell. She suffered a compound fracture of her wrist and it cut her radial artery. He said he feared for her life. This happened on the sidewalk on a busy bridge, and their car wasn't close, nor was there a phone within several hundred yards.

He was able to flag down a brother driving across the bridge. They put the girl in his car and took off for the hospital. She made it.

I thought that was very cool.

There are also numerous examples of when that sign has been used in battle and a Brother rushed to the aid of another, even when on opposing forces.

We truly are bound to each other by stronger ties.
