Guy is selling one on craigslist for a good price. I want to go check it out tomorrow.
what should I look at to see if it has any wear and tear? What I mean is, are there areas on these boxes that fail... or do they just kick ass? |
| IMO they are the best out there and I have owned a couple different makes over the years. The only thing I would look at is if it is straight (if that matters to you) and that the key works in both locks. There is a code for the key if the seller does not have one or the locks can be replaced if necessary. Good box you wont be disappointing, just remember to mount it about 1/2 inch forward of the front of the bed to prevent the annoying shimmies and shakes. |

Getting new keys cut is hit or miss depending on the age and style of the box, but I used a different cylinder/lock combo from another manufacturer without issue.
Great boxes if you can get them cheap. I got an 1400 box for 100 on cragislist,, had to replace a couple of bearings but 12 bucks and some paint later I was all set. |
