I am looking for a new hosting provider that I can access from work.
The company network has issues reaching the server with my web site and is an interment issue that I cannot duplicate on other networks. I thought the web filter was catching my .cgi proxy server but I can’t reach any page on my site. Dang work network disables trace routes so I can’t isolate the issue. If you can provide a URL or IP for a site hosted by the company you recommend, it would allow me to test access from my job’s network. I would prefer a UNIX/Linux based platform so I can install the cgi proxy app. Thanks Monk |

Well isn't it just convenient that this is what i do for a living. You can tracert / ping my website http://www.hostingscene.com and see how your connection is. If you need more help with anything shoot me an e-mail and I'd be more than happy to help. |

I use www.godaddy.com
Its been completely troublefree and its pretty inexpensive. In my opinion though it is a little on the slow side. I opted for Linux. You can get Linux or Windows servers. http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/shared.asp?ci=9009 My plan is: 150g space 1500g bandwidth 500 email accounts. $6.99/mo |

http://www.slicehost.com is a similar idea, but i think it is a much greater value. they have great tutorials for linux newbies for setting up your own mail and web server. |

I've had good experience with linode. They have a few datacenters to choose from and you can transfer your vm between them if you like. If you have multiple vps with them you can pool your transfer limits. -Foxxz |

What I need to search for is a place I can rsync a few hundred gb of files. Not for hosting. Just for storage. I found one or two places. Kinda pricey. Wonder if I can get an unlimited godaddy webhosting package and use it for a dump... -Foxxz you most definitely can't, somewhere in the TOS is allows them to say "this is not being used for traditional web hosting, GTFO" amazon S3 and rsync.net are good places to look |

Bandwidth shouldn't be a problem, but I'd prefer to just colo a box for you. |
