A few weeks ago I set up a new wireless network, connected all my devices then realize my Vizio TV isn't compatible with special characters in the network security key. So I changed it to remove the special characters. I then had to go back and change the security key on all my devices that were already connected. For some reason, every time my Dell Precision laptop (running Win 7) restarts the security key reverts to the original with the special characters and I have to go into "network and sharing center" > "manage wireless networks" to manually change it again.

What is the deal?

go into your wireless devices and delete (forget) the network you use. then let it find your network and login with the new password

Your laptop is likely using a wireless network management program - Dell ControlPoint Software, probably.  Most likely that has the network information stored in it, and is used to set the network properties every time you reboot.

Look for that program in your start menu, then change your network properties from within the software and save it so that it doesn't revert on the next reboot.
