So I have a Hobart Handler 140, the older 4 voltage setting version, it wasn't running so great last time I used it, liner in the gun is likely worn, bought a new gun and a new Victor regulator, haven't put them on. It sits in my shed, so the spool in it could be degraded.

I'm thinking I want a Miller 211, I always have, and it's got more capability.

My question is do I want the previous version (a manly looking thing) or the new and improved smaller, lighter version.

GO!

The more expensive compact millers like the Maxstar, and Dynasty lines kick ass. They are DC constant current Stick/Tig boxes though. Some old timers don't like them and like a machine they have to move around with a fork lift. I love them.

My dad Boughy a Lincoln 210 multi process machine. Him and my brother are very happy with it. It will do anything a home welder will ant to and more. The price is hard to beat.

I burn lots of wire with a Miller 252, it is nice but I got really spoiled by the industrial power sources and double roller fed wire feeders at my last job.

Not really.  My Dynasty runs circles around a Synchrowave.  And I have yet to use the more advanced GTAW controls.

Inverter machines are things you don't skimp on in cost.  So the newer 211 wire feeds are GTG.

Yeah, you have to adjust DIG when running SMAW and that varies with rod type and diameter.  But running pretty root passes with 6010 in all positions has me grinning.  Then brush the slag and using 1/8" 7018 on fill and cap with the same DIG setting?  I was shocked.  But totally different with 7014.
