I spent around 3 hours under the hood today Mig welding in around 90 degree temps. med to high humidity.

I feel for those of you who have to do this all day in this heat and humidity.

Most of my time at the real job is spinning wrenches, with occasional welding.

I'm off this week and so far have been welding more than if I was at work.

I've heard flux core aka innershield? Sucks, big time.

I'm running argon-Co2 mix.

Yeehaw.
Spent about 2 hours welding and sandblasting today, on my day off, while the baby's sleeping. I'm working on an M20 75mm rifle display.
Been welding and working steel and stainless steel for 30+ years and I still like it. I know I must be nuts, but that's no surprise.

Cool! I'm in for a little over 20 years of welding. Just certified in the last few years.

A pic of the finished project would be uber cool!

I'd love to learn how to weld, and with the new (old) car I might need to!

26+ years here and more certs than you could put in a 5 gallon bucket.  I still like welding though most of mine is done from a chair pushing buttons in an airconditioned building.  But hey if you think I have it easy, that chair doesn't have arm rests on it.  How's that for suffering!

How about cup holders?

My cup holders are self propelled and earn about $18 per hour.

I did run about six feet of TIG in a rocket last week.  It took me a three day weekend and a bottle of Wild Turkey to get over it.

Cup holders make $4 more than me, need an extra?

When I was working my way thru college, I worked at a tugboat construction yard, first as a tacker, then as a fitter.  When it came time to lay the main deck down on top of the various tanks and holds, it was the tackers job to go down into the tank or hold, and tack the deck to the ribs overhead, while the fitter would beat on the deck plates with a sledge hammer to mash the plates down close the ribs.

The welders would come after and seal everything.

I can remember doing this in 100 degree weather, wearing a full top leather apron, long sleeve shirt and jeans, in the Louisiana humidity.  Of course, I was 20 years old, young, dumb and full of cum.

I remember how the first beer after work would go down real quickly.

Maybe, but you'd have to move to North Alabama!

Pangea's in the rocket bidness.

I'm in the rocket-killer bidness.

We get along great!

Rockets, COOL!

It's hot enough here though, I'll have to pass...
