Between the two 4runners, the '02 would be my choice if the rear bumper rust is just rear bumper rust and the frame isn't affected. I'd be suspicious on that point though. It'll have the last iteration of the 3rd gen interior too, cupholders etc. Between the cloth and leather seats, the leather looks better but the cloth is a LOT more comfortable. The 96 has the rear electric locker option though and that's pretty cool to have, but the dash mounted cupholder is both fragile and largely useless unless you like coating your interior in beverage with every bump. I've swapped the cupholder from a later model into my 98 and swapped a locker rear in too, not a ton of work but finding the parts can be a bit of a trick. |

NOW I'm dealing with the fact that the DMV is now appointment only. And it often takes weeks to get into the with an appointment. So I'll have to drive a couple hours to get to the jeep I want. Then if I decide to buy it I'll have to pay for it then go online and make an appointment with the DMV. Hopefully everything works at the DMV, then I'll have to take another trip to go pick up the jeep weeks after I've paid for it. Before covid I would just have went over to the local DMV, got the tags and drive it home.  |
