I have property near Machias and have been to Roque's Bluff many times before. Given distraction/fatigue, night darkness, unfamiliarity with area and dense fog, I can see this happening. This is really sad stuff

Sorry for your loss OP, I can't even imagine... I've almost done it. Driving in Finland on a snowy night in the winter, GPS still fairly new and definitely struggling on rural Finnish roads. GPS was going to send me straight into the gulf, I think there was some positioning accuracy issues. Saw a road sign with a picture of a car driving off a road into water and slowed way down. Sure enough, a couple hundred yards after that sign I would have driven straight into the water. |
