Many of you are not only into firearms, but also films, especially considering because, if you're like me, some of your first introduction to some great firearms are through cinema. Movies such as Die Hard, The Wild Bunch, Shane, The Way of the Gun, Scarface, Heat, The Matrix, Dirty Harry, and of course John Wick. All wonderful films featuring excellent displays of firearms, albeit some more realistic/plausible than others. But this isn't a thread specifically about guns in film, but rather more along the lines of film in general. If you had to come up with a top 10 films of all time list... what's yours look like? Here's mine:  1. Red River (1948, Howard Hawks) 2. Barry Lyndon (1975, Stanley Kubrick) 3. North by Northwest (1959, Alfred Hitchock) 4. Aguirre the Wrath of God (1972, Werner Herzog) 5. In a Lonely Place (1950, Nicholas Ray) 6. My Fair Lady (1964, George Cukor) 7. Amelie (2001, Jean Pierre Jeunet) 8. Breathless (1960, Jean Luc Godard) 9. Chimes at Midnight (1965, Orson Welles) 10. Taxi Driver (1976, Martin Scorsese)

I might not be able to come up with ten... 1. Buckaroo Banzai 2. The Road 3. Mad Max: The Road Warrior 4. Children of Men 5. Blade Runner 2049 6. Blade Runner Yeah... that's all I got. I watch movies to be entertained, not be wowed by a "high art" piece so my standards are "in the mood for it at the time" and not much beyond that. A "good" movie is one I'll enjoy watching a second time. |

The best film of the 2010s and it completely bombed at the box office, but much like the original, I just don't think audiences were ready for it. Like you, I actually prefer it over the original as it goes even deeper into the themes and really hits at some ideas appropriate to this age on the eve of the AI revolution. I was just wowed and in silence after I saw it in the theater when it came out and it took me a hot minute to process it. |
