Put all of your supplies inside body bags then put some rotten meat where the zipper closes. The first whiff and anyone wanting to look inside will run.

I was on the very last commercial flight to land at New Orleans AP, for deployment into Katrina,(prior to landfall) where I remained for +3 months, before being retask to post Rita/Wilma efforts.

Everything - gets shut down. Everything got locked up. Everything.
Looting started even before the storm made landfall and went into over dive within hours of it passing.
I helped to clear the walmart that was shown briefly on CNN, before the media was no longer allowed in.
They took everything, even the toliets and power wires from the walls.
The looters packed up, organized and were often more heavily armed than we were. Drug cartels scooped in, along with 'heavier' criminal organized gangs, to re-assert/take over certain areas. I recall a then internal field doc that stated something like 30k inmates had been released and were now on the loose. They (U.S. Marshals) hoped to 'pick them up at a later time' lol.

We found random people stuffed inside refrigerators, clothes driers & dumpsters. Dogs went feral in what seemed like about a week or so. They packed up too.
Gas stations ran out of gas. If you could find it, its was $10 a gallon, dirty and had been 'cut with Lord knows what.
(gas was just $1.80 a gal then) Bottle water was worth its weight in gold.
Supplies; You either had it or you didnt. If you had it, that set you up for other issues.

Bottom line: You where either stuck there, in hell or you had gotten out long before hand.
That is a fact that was never lost on me, looking back at it. Once it all went to shit, there was no 'getting out'
Some people tried to walk out, hard to know who was able to.
I saw the bloated bodies of some that I supposed, didn't make it out like they had hoped.

A sailboat is, IMO, maybe not the best idea. You have virtually no ability to produce food unless you want to eat a LOT of fish. Moreover, you are highly dependent on resupply from land which often times could be in less than 1st world ports. To avoid regional or short term SHTF I'd love the idea of a boat, but for a long term SHTF event? I dont know.... On one hand it'd be great to sail a mile out cause no one is going to fuck with you. But, you cant stay there forever.

Not everywhere is like the pacific northwest.  On the southeast coast I can be in the Bahamas in a few hours, Turks & Caicos in a few days, Virgin Islands in 4 to 5 days and Central or South America within about a week.  In normal times I carry 4 months of food and provisions and can make my own water.  If SHTF in the US - living for a few years in Belize, Costa Rica or an island somewhere south may be a great option.  If currency is no longer worth anything, then there aren't any good options unless you own property ahead of time.  Having a boat to get to a prepositioned retreat feels like a solid plan.  If you were willing to ignore ITAR/export laws you could be the only one in some of these Countries with NVGs, heavy weapons and armor.

For those saying bugging out is never a good idea, I feel bad for you if a nuke pops off near your AO because I guess you're just going to sit and die.  For those of us in Florida, some hurricanes mandate evacuation for those that are prudent.  For those in population centers there are definitely some disasters you should be amongst the first to leave.  While I don't think running to the mountains with your hunting rifle and spraying wolverine everywhere should be your plan A, there are many disasters where the first rule of surviving is "don't be there when it happens."  Neither answer is always right.  I think it's smart to prepare for both scenarios (stay or go).

Three pages in, and no one has said the obvious?

Assuming roads are clogged and gas is gone, bicycles would be wise.  As would ebikes with a solar charging kit.

Any good ones that you recommend that have easily removable batteries where you can keep some on hand when they don’t charge anymore?

If you're planning to bug out you're planning to fail. The ideal situation is to be prepared to stay home for at least 9 months without needing to go anywhere. Trusted neighbors are an asset, not a liability.

There's no such thing as a trusted neighbor.  You better be prepared to share all of your stuff with every one of them, or as soon as one of them starts going hungry you'll catch a bullet.

Just look how family screws each over when it comes to money/inheritance.  You think a neighbor in tougher times will treat you better.  LOL.

Having owned 3 large cruising sailboats in my lifetime. Cruised to a few countries. If you think your are going to be welcomed anywhere in a true SHTF, better think again. Having their customs go through your boat in peacetime is disconcerting enough. In a disaster you will be subject to every coastal pirate in steel hulled shrimp boats and you in your fiberglass shell. Good luck.

Besides if the Good ole USA goes every other country will soon follow or be occupied by other countries armies.
There will be no where to run to. Best prepare to live in your area when it happens. When it shuts down, it will all shut down.

Ideal SHTF escape vehicle?
Well, since I'm very familiar with tanks, that would be ideal. I've smashed many things in the past with tanks. But, since it's doubtful I'll get that..
I picked sailboat. Why?.. Well, there are many super fine ones around here in the many marinas. I may need to borrow one or two in a SHTF scenario? Several islands around to vacate (if I went that route) to also.
Depends on the SHTF situation really. I may just chill in the Everglades laying low.. or who knows?
A modified garbage truck with mad max style armor plates might also happen?
A person's imagination can run wild with all the different SHTF scenarios. Realistically, a CAT 5 hurricane, leveling everything around here, is something that could start a SHTF for me..

There are a couple of goat trails on this long, sparsely settled lake that lead down into deep draws on the water's edge. I'd load my 4Runner, drive it in and drop a few trees behind me. Fish, tons of geese and duck, four legged game and water that's mostly safe to drink (I have filtration, though). Winter would get rough, but there's no end of firewood. I could ride out serious unrest for quite a while. They'd burn my neighborhood looting.

Running wouldn't get me far at 18 mpg.

I think maybe I found it. We had a speedboat regata going on yesterday, and some of the stuff that got hauled in was kind of nuts...including one with a hydraulic trailer that tipped the boat up on it's side to make it highway legal, width-wise.

Anyway the tow vehicles were a good match for the boats. Not sure what this is, other than a Freightliner, but a little bullet-proofing and you're home and dry. Who needs an Earthroamer?
