I fed my dog raw meat for seven years. Now she is on chemo and gets diarrhea a lot too even before that she's got some arthritis and with the cancer she has there's a good chance. She will live long enough to have some other debilitating thing going on like the arthritis. I've been mixing cooked meat with canned food, but she is over the canned food and I don't think it's super nutritious anyway. I'm looking for what will be considered top notch protein heavy cooked food without a lot of strings attached like some stupid subscription plan or something |

Her sister likes beef knuckles just fine but not anywhere near with the same 'vigor' and persistence as her sibling. FWIW - That surgery was scary for me. Those back teeth on dogs are huge and have 3 roots vs the 2 that our teeth have. Not at all a 'simple' extraction when one of those gets broken like it did... (trying to point out here that some dogs can handle bones without issue and some can't...) |

Current girls are Dobies number 6 and 7 for me so far and have never personally had one make it past 9. At just a smidge over 7 - these particular girls pretty much got it all as far as health problems are concerned with respect to Dobermans. Thyroid crap?, Yep we got it. Allergy issues? Yep.... If either of these current girls are able to make it to 12 - I will consider that a blessing.  |

I know it doesnt answer your question directly, but on a quick search I can't find any 'off the shelf' brands that list 'bone meal' or anything similar in the ingredients. You may have to resort to buying bone meal and just sprinkling some in with whatever dog food you end up choosing. Not a perfect answer, but it's a fairly simply one still. |

Another one for Hills Science Diet. I Have 2 German Shepherds that have been on Hills their whole life. One is almost 15 and the other is 10. Just got two GSP puppies and they will be on the same. Disclaimer: My sister got a degree from Purdue in something to do with this shit and got a job at Hills. She twisted my arm into giving our dogs Hills ($$$) but she was right and they've lived long good lives so far. |

All of that sausagy goodness that was left in the pan afterwards got a can of green beans dumped on top of it and heated up again before getting poured over the bowls of kibble for the girls. They most definitely got excited about their meal (they was around when that sausage was cooking) and pretty much sucked it down. They got only one ride on the merry go round of life. Least I can do as as their owner is make sure they at least eat good. |

I don't think you're going to find what you're looking for among the commercial pet foods. Maybe replace the canned food with DIY bone broth instead? It's easy enough to make in an instant pot regularly or a stock pot if you want larger batches, and you can use your leftover cooked people food bones. |

Farmers Dog Or Open Farm Gently Cooked Dog Food To start, I am not a Veterinarian. I am just some dude on the internet who likes a particular dog food because of some research I did and know a family or 2 that has good results with Open Farms. Expensive as hell but actually decent dog food. We buy the latter brand for our 8 month old Rottie (Raw Mix Kibble Large Breed). Is there less expensive brands…sure. Are they any better or worse? I'm so sorry. I know that pain all too well. Your dog made it to 13? years old which from my understanding is incredible for a doberman. I have friends who have lost theirs to cancer at 6-8 years old because of shitty backyard greeders not pairing dogs based on health. Absolutely heartbreaking. |
